Patriots' Path

Patriots’ Path is a linear park first envisioned about 20 years ago, when Morris County officials began working on the creation of a continuous multi-use trail connecting parklands as well as recreational and cultural facilities.


Foreseeing future development in the area, these far-sighted planners also sought to preserve the land surrounding the Whippany and Raritan Rivers as a buffer between the natural environment and the new construction that would take place.

Today, Patriots’ Path is a visible testament to their efforts. The routes shown on the Patriots’ Path (East) and Patriots’ Path (West) trail maps represent the longest currently developed and bike-accessible portions of this expanding trail. Future plans call for the path to extend as a continuous route from the Lenape Trail in Essex County to Stephens State Park in Hackettstown in Warren County. ...
