The Assunpink Wildlife Management area is located in extreme western Monmouth County, in the approximate geographic center of the state.
Despite its proximity to encroaching development, it is still a haven for wildlife native to the area, as well as a stopover for migrating birds. Assunpink’s 5,700 acres offer many attractions to the human population as well.
Although the terrain on some sections of this ride is similar to that found several miles south at Clayton County Park, the route was designed with the casual rider in mind. It uses the area’s network of unpaved and paved roads. Both are open to vehicular traffic. County Route 524 is a light to moderately used country road, popular with area bike clubs. ...
