The restored 1830s village at Allaire State Park is a first-rate example of historical restoration. This old ironmaking village has an outstanding collection of buildings and artifacts from the era, with guides in period costumes.
A good portion of the park lies south of both the village area and the Manasquan River. This is where bicyclists are allowed on the multi-use trails, which are also frequented by hikers and equestrians.
The updated trail-information map, provided courtesy of ATUG (Allaire Trail User Group), reflects renovations and designations at Allaire. The orange trail is about 4.6 miles long, the blue trail is 3.1 miles, and the white trail is 2.3 miles. Each offers a sample of what the area is like as a whole, including singletrack and wide fire roads and areas of "sugar sand" as well as hard-packed surface.
